Repair Guidelines
⚠ Important Guidelines (Please Read)
- Labour Rate: $120/hour. Proper preparation helps reduce time and costs.
- Clearly Mark Leak Locations. If you know where the hose is leaking, please mark the exact spot. This helps us avoid pressure testing the entire hose, saving time and labour costs.
- NFPA regulations require that a repaired hose be at least 90% of its original length (e.g., a 50 ft hose must be at least 45 ft after repair). If the hose will be too short to meet this standard, let us know if you’d prefer us to create a pony length and specify the desired length.
- Include Testing Instructions. Please specify if you would like:
- Us to test the hose after repairs or
- Your department to test it before returning it to service
- Incomplete submissions may incur extra charges. If the hoses arrive without markings or instructions, additional labour will be required for leak detection, determining repair feasibility, possible condemnation (if it does not meet NFPA standards). Labour charges will apply even if the hose is ultimately non-repairable.
- Estimated repair costs. A full repair (including leak detection, cutting, re-coupling, and testing) usually requires at least 1 hour. If the leak is marked and instructions are clear, a standard re-coupling may take as little as 20 minutes (approx. $35, plus the cost of O-rings and expansion rings). Testing after repair is billed separately
- Ensure that all personnel involved in hose submissions understand these procedures. Clear communication can help avoid unnecessary costs and delays.
- Hardware Repairs (valves, nozzles, etc.): Submit with clear communication of issues and testing needs
